Couple weeks back I had a Days of Thunder moment when I walked into the garage and noticed a huge puddle of ATF. Appears that I'm leaking fluid from the Advance Adapter 700r4 to QT. It has been together for a couple years and now has decided to leak. Everything is tight. The only thing I could thing of is the paper gasket between the TH400 bracket that is part of the Advance Adapter and QT was so saturated it started leaking.

I'm in the process of tearing it apart to check everything and replace the gasket with RTV Silicone.

I have also been slowly working on my new fuel fill for the 25 gallon Bronco tank. I need to get this truck finished and drive it. Life gets in the way too much.

Once my tcase leak is fixed and fuel fill finished it will be time to drive.

Using a chase and cutting bed to reduce the bends and to allow for a "straighter run".

I need a small bent piece to line up the fill hose with the 90 degree elbow.

All hose was purchased at fillernecksupply.com. Great site.

I'm not familiar with this adapter so bear with me. Can you explain how the QT fluid and tranny fluid do not mix? Are there seals for that some where? In the adapter?

Thanks for the fuel supply tips!

That fuel fill company is fantastic. Believe they are in Spokane Wash.

This is a picture when trans was installed. The bearing sits there with no snap ring. Something doesnt seem right. I would think the bearing should be held in with a snap ring. When I pulled the QT the bearing and output shaft came off with the QT. It is possible I dont have this installed correctly. It has been driven and together like this for a couple years but the leak just started a few weeks back.

I believe ATF is leaking around the bearing from the transmission. I have the 4wd conversion in my QT and running ATF in that so makes it tough to simply look at fluid type and tell where it is coming from.

Well it appears there are two leaks. Both where the paper gaskets are located for the Transmission to Tcase adapter. Little upsetting since it only has been installed for less than 3 years .

So I need to remove the TH400/Qt adapter and replace the gasket on the Advance Adapter plate with some RTV silicone. Need to temporarily jack up the trans for the process. Hopefully next weekend since there is never time during the week nights.

Removed Tcase and adapter yesterday. Replaced gaskets with RTV silicone and it appears to be holding with no leaks for over 12 hours now.

Still not happy this had to be done. If anyone is going to use any adapters I suggest not using the paper gaskets that come with the kits or this might happen to you also.
