What a crazy looking rad hose! Look out!

How'd the fuel filter get so milky? I've seen oil get whipped up like that but was the fuel line sucking air?

That hose was on its last leg!

There is some kind of sediment in the tank- I’m not sure what it is, but I’m on my 4th inline filter.

As if that weren’t enough, I notice this:

Whoa.
Thankfully it didn't burst on your warm-up drive. That hose looks like one of those National Geographic "snake after it swallowed a small cow" photographs!

Image I’ve never seen a hose that bloated without popping.

I might have dialed in the hard start in the cold! A balmy 32 degrees this AM and she made it to work:

She is on fuel filter number 4; one one tank of gas since I brought her home.

I’ve been chasing a grinding noise and it turns out it was the starter eating the flex plate.

The starter I bought new wasn’t engaging all the way due to a shim at the nose cone installed by the manufacturer.

Having 15 trillion spare parts, I opted to reuse an older OEM starter and the only difference between the new and older starter is the shim on the new starter.

The above starter is slightly different than another version of a replacement starter so be careful on what new starter you buy for the th400 equipped Kaiser/AMC lineup.

The auto parts store exchanged the new starter for another new starter from a different manufacturer this AM.

I’ll be keeping the older starter in the 78 Redbone until the starter dies, but if I ever install another starter, I might have to file down the shim that seems to come in all remanufactured Kaiser/AMC starters.

Nice addition of those early-ish fender badges!

Hahaha, thanks! I didn’t want to put too much money into her until I figured out the source of the noise, but I went ahead and sold the Kidney Bean 70’s rims to a local Cherokee owner and put on stock steelies now, along with some dog dish hubcaps.

Sold this lil red jeep to thin the herd a bit and to fund other projects. 10/03/21
