Great write-up! Which springs are you running? Sorry if you already mentioned it.

I'm running the stock springs. Sorry it took so long to answer. I didn't get an email notice for some reason.

WHat axles did you use Jeff? D44's? Do all front axles require the same mods (for example a Dana 60?)

2003 Dodge Crewcab 2500 Cummins longbed 4x4
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee V-6 full time 4x4

Alternators, winches, 4x4, guns all have the same issue if you don't have any knowledge of them usually bad things will happen. Serehill

Thank you so much for this thread. I'm having some dangerous "while you're at it...." thoughts..
My 79 J20 is begging me for this treatment!

edit: Sorry if this is a dumb question... So to go full high-steering setup, my 79 J20 will need the new knuckle, that then allows me to bolt that top arm to it? Then the lower arms don't get used, right? Thanks again!

Did you use the stock pitman arm or did you use a drop pitman arm?

You use the stock pitman arm with stock springs. The height difference of the SOA is compensated by using crossover or full high-steer. If you go SOA and use lift springs, you may need a dropped pitman arm, but at that level of modification there are too many variables for anyone to tell you what you are looking at over the internet.

Edit: Thought this was my build thread so I replied as if it was.

I am using a drop pitman arm with narrow trac axles (stock wagoneer), the drag link dose not hit the spring with narrows.

Now, should you be using high steer? Yes Is my wagon a daily driver? No I do drive it around, its a second vehicle, but I do know that its a build wagoner and its not going to be perfect.

to be clear you did an SOA, with stock springs, and the only steering change you did was a drop pitman arm?

Correct, works fine.

I do need to go high steer to get great steering back, and yes I do need to lengthen my drive shaft but the stock one works, and at my full drop it does not come apart.
