Bobbed frames & flatbeds

Post by Grand_Wag_85 »

Wanting to see photos of bobbed frames and flatbeds on J trucks. Mainly interested in getting rid of the last foot or so behind the rear spring hangers.

Seen a lot of photos of this truck. Not sure who owns it.

It looks like only about 6-8 inches were removed from this truck, but it sure is noticeable, isn't it? :o

For sure. That truck also started out as a LWB. Been reading his build thread today.

It had a lot more than that removed. As mentioned it was a long bed. The rear axle is pushed forward, and the rear of the bed was bobbed. So its technically bobbed and sectioned. Looks cool though.

Oops! I guess you're right Stuka, quite a bit more than 6-8 inches. And I didn't notice the altered wheelbase either 'til you mentioned it. I've seen this done to a thousand drag cars, but I can't ever remember seeing it done to a truck before, it does look kinda cool.

I cut like 18" off the rear of the Honcho, but I also removed the bed and added tube.

Technically Crom is on a Cherokee frame and since he doesn't exist he don't count....:p

That's me!

Chopped 14" of frame before the rear axle, and 14" behind the rear axle. Custom leaf hangers using Jeep YJ springs with an XJ main leaf wrapped around the front eye. The spring rate on them is awesome, but they wrapped so much without a traction bar my driveshaft yokes would bind. They just feel dainty, but get the job done for the time being. 113" wheelbase, but the front is being pushed forward a couple inches right now.

I have been pretty flaky on the build thread thing, but Facebook has proven to be the least time consuming and helps give content to my page.

Not *quite* what you had in mind, I'm sure.. But since it's a flatbed, and since I enjoy sharing pictures of it everywhere..
