rear stretch & tire size

Post by 68glad »

Looking for some pics and real world experience of those who have stretched their rear wheelbase & do some harder wheeling. How much did you go? Do you like it? Would you do it again? Tire size? How'd you cover wheel wells....ect. When I swapped to the D70 I inboarded the springs and moved rear back 2". I've never really felt like it was far enough and am considering flipping the springs for another 5". This would end up at 116". As it sits now.

1" forward with new hangers I make.
5" back with 63" springs in the rear.
Plenty of web posts about doing this on wag/checks.

Turned both sets of leafs around end for end, and used a "Zero rate" up front. Got the wheelbase up to 118 inches. Tires measure 42.5 tall, but have yet to wheel it, I'm still building it as of now. Cut a lot of fender out.

I plan on doing the same on my cherokee, a few pictures that give you an idea of possibilities

This guy sold his rig on pirate 4x4- the thread is still out there with more photos. He's running chevy springs with 42" iroks

Here's a wagoneer. Not sure of how much it is streched (not chevy springs) but is running 40" goodyear MTR's.
