Need 4" lift measurement

Post by Carolinaboy »

I was wandering if someone with a 360 and a 4" lift would measure the distance between their frame an axle so I could compare it to mine. I want to see what kind of effect the diesel had on the actual lift.

Well I don't know because it was installed before I bought the jeep. The PO said: "I think it's 4" and that's all the info I got. I'll measure it tomorrow and post it just to see.

It looks like I have 9 1/2" from top of axle tube to bottom of the frame.

That puts you at right about 3.5-4" of lift then.

I guess it would be safe to say that a 6.2/6.5 diesel would have minimal effect on the front springs. The lift was put on a few years before I got it. Just got to order new shocks now. I backed into a rock and crushed one of the rear shocks. Oh well more money goes to the jeep. Anybody have an opinion on a preferred shock?

The 6.2/6.5 is the lightest of the V8 diesels (If you don't count the 350 diesel). Put a 7.3L or something in their and the front will certainly sink down as it weighs around 1050 pounds I think, just below a Cummins 5.9 which is a bit over 1100. The 6.2 is right around 700. Which is more than a 360, but not enough to make a huge difference.
