1978 Cherokee Chief

Post by eggertrt@gmail.com »

Sharing my '78 Cherokee Chief that I bought when I retired back in 2015. The interior was destroyed (mice), the engine was shot and it had last been titled in 1995. For 20 yrs it was used as a ranch vehicle...undercarriage coated in mud, no brakes...ran on about 5 cylinders, had 9 speakers inside and a host of different rounds of ammunition all over the place. The front floor pans were gone...just a couple layers of shingles between your feet and the earth. I didn't pull the cab, but I tended to every square inch that I could access otherwise. Some of the major stuff included new suspension, steering components, brakes; engine/trans removed and rebuilt; exhaust, interior....paint was complete (engine compartment/firewall, interior/exterior with all glass removed). I have hundreds of pictures but wanted to share a few to summarize. BTW, thank you very much the members of this site...I found a TON of helpful stuff, especially on the tailgate! :-bd

The rear quarters and flares look amazing for a farm vehicle. Mine are rusted out. Great job on it.

That is awesome! The original paint color appears to be "6P" Firecracker Red. Just like mine!

The interior work is stunning!

The entire renovation is impeccable.

Welcome to retirement!
