New Paint Job

Post by GrandJoshoneer »

Finally got my Wag back from the shop. Had them weld close all 50-something rivet holes, strip the roof, fix a couple rust spots, and some small dents & dings. They painted it pretty close to the original, a deep maroon. Had to get all the jambs done since I put new rockers on it.

I don’t plan on putting the wood back on, but I am adding some to the inside. Just finished the tailgate, and I’m almost done with the bed. Trying to figure out the best way to terminate it where it meets up with the tailgate.

I still have the headliner to go and a few other little things, and it will be done just in time for my son to not need it, since his high school will be all virtual through October...damn COVID!

That looks excellent! The body line where i welded my trim holes are very wavy, i think because i didnt have a long length sanding block.

Just had it washed and waxed now that the paint is done curing. She’s super shiny now.

Alright, alright, alright! Nice looking rig.

I have to admit, I have days where I think it's time for the woodgrain to go. Something keeps calling me back, but one day, maybe it won't.

Freehold, I didn’t really have a choice. The wood was in really bad shape. The sun baked it for 33 yrs, cracked it, and then it cracked the paint underneath as well. As long as it took me to remove it all, I said never again!

Finally finished the cargo area. Had to build a little ramp out of trim to terminate the cargo floor. The floor is divided in 2 parts with the seam hiding under the center stainless cargo slat. Whole thing comes out in about a minute.
