The Beest!

Post by Tomahawk715 »

The “custom” lettering was done by the prior owner. They were asking $350 but it wasn’t running so I talked them down to $250. Starter was clearly out but upon getting it home there turned out to be a brand new one behind the seat in a pile or garbage and parts. It was still in the box with the receipt from Napa.

Turned out the float needle was stuck closed—after a hilljack rebuild of the carb it runs.

It was sitting out front about a week when a local farmer stopped and asked if I wanted another one. Ummm not really but went and looked. Turned out to be a 65 that is pretty toasty but has a decent doghouse/grill. So I’ll be swapping it over to this one.

Fixed the image for you. Just take that link you have in your second post, and put it in img tags and it will display.

For $250, I don't think you did bad, even with the rust. Any running and driving 4wd for $250 is a deal in my book. Even if it did take some work.

Thanks for fixing the image. I’ve since picked up some rust free doors. So between the front on the 65 and those rust is manageable. Of course finding a decent bed in Michigan will be a challenge.
