Oil pan clearance on a 4bt,

Post by Markstrimaran »

Is a lift required, for a 4bt cummins, swap?

3:73 axles, and a dodge 727 3 speed issues.

35" military h1 tires, no major crawling with Dana 44,

Any fuel mileage numbers.

I am probably going to lift it 4" by welding on spring hanger extensions on the front, and spring under frame on the rear.

Never mind going with 6.2 or 6.5 Chevy diesel, anybody?

Motor mounts, clearance issues?

Wouldn't have a 6.2 if you made me.

Well once the 6.2 is swapped, the 6.5 in my 92 chevy will be a easy power up, perhaps.

Yes, gut less, put mpg is what I am looking for.

Gutless is its only saving grace. As it was a very poor design it tends to crack blocks and heads. Adding an aftermarket turbo only adds to this happening sooner. Then you need to invest in the upgrade for the glow plugs. If your not doing the cummins, I'd a UI m for an MB OM motor vs the gm.

The cost difference is $500.00 Vs $7000.00.
I had a 6.2 in a 1993 van, the motor outlasted the RUSTED body. I drove it to the salvage yard. I heard alot about the bad, mostly early years. I have never actually had any problems, a little black smoke. Minor oil drips.
I need my FSJ to be a daily commuter, and my 3500 Silverado 6.5 uses the same parts.
H1 hummer + Grand wagoneer the engine, tranny, t case is in the mail.
