Carb is overhauled but, still has a stumble :banghead: Hope it works it's self out.

Fuel pump is replaced.

Now I have found a leak at the tank where the carb hoses come in. Have to replace the sending unit anyway, so I may as well replace the pickup tube and rubber fuel lines as well.

I need to learn more about carbs. Been too long since I had a car with one until FSJ. I am working on my gauges, couple of lights are out.

If it is running fine I would not worry about it. Usually they just need to be cleaned if they sit for a long time.

Good luck on the dash lights. Be careful of the main round plug when you unplug it. Some of the pins on my cluster came loose when I removed the plug and started a long road of problems. :banghead:

I ordered a new fuel sender and fuel pickup with sock. Hope they get here before the weekend so I can get them installed. Then I hope I will be ready for a short run to the desert.

I've rebuilt dozens of carbs on Jeeps. And almost every time I've rebuilt carbs on a Waggy, they have still had issues. Not because of the carb, but because of the crappy electronic ignition system. They don't burn hot enough to bring out the type of performance we now know is possible. A DUI distributor makes ALL the difference! I tell ya, it is one upgrade that will result in better performance, power and fuel mileage.

Luckily I already have upgraded ignition. Whoever had it before me did most what I would do. Holly carb, ignition and headers all came with the truck. Suspension and lights are next.
When do you guys think we should do our first trip?

I have parts on the way. If they fix the problem I would probably be in for a short maiden run in the next few weeks. Been a few years since I have been to Big Foot bar. Was a pretty cool place to play with a 4X4 at one time.

I should be ready by then. The Wrangler is now in the hands of its new owner. I spent a few days getting that ready to go. Now, I am free to focus on finishing my truck.

I installed new transmission cooler lines today.
Door glass cut and installed next week.
I am looking into getting all the window frames and wiper parts anodized black. Anodizing will be much better than powder coating for these items. I don't want any chrome or stainless components. Black or green. Except for the wheels.

I don't have to get everything on my list completed before going on a maiden voyage. Wherever you guys want to go is fine with me.

The only thing I would need to go further off road is a spare tire, just in case. Other than that I am good to go.
When I get to body work and painting I will not have any chrome either, too bright. I am thinking of having most of my chrome power coated and anodized few parts on the interior.

Are you going with the same color? It's nice. What size spare? 32"? Or will a 31" be fine?

Hey, I took my truck for a drive today. It drives super nice. Took it down to the car wash for the first time since building it.

I also ordered a Lokar floor shifter this weekend. It should be here by Wednesday.

I think I will go with the same color, I like it too. I do think it was painted some years back, close to original do to some spots that are little different in color. I will try to keep as much original as possible, however, 10 MGP that I am getting got me thinking of doing an engine swap. George has his original wheels that I will get, as soon as I get some free time (thank you George).
Your truck looks amazing, can't wait to see it in person. Your Wrangler was awesome too but you have to do what you have to do.

I got my Lokar shifter installed and tail lights are wired. I checked on the anodizing. It is only for aluminum. So my window frames will have to be powder coated.

Driving in 4wd yesterday and today has me yearning for some off road action. Do we have any trials, lets say in two weeks, that we can hit? Half day or full day is fine with me. :fsj:

Plenty of two track roads.....Trails?

Looks like my Quadra Trac has more issues than I remember. Runs fine in town, but the low range will not engage and the emergency drive will not engage. So looks like I am out until I can find some time when it starts to warm up to remove it and see what is wrong with it. Unless I can find a good unit I can go through and then just swap it out. So if you know someone who has one laying around let me know.

George.

We don't have to go hard core off road, not that I could anyways. Test the water so to speak.

Big Foot Bar, posted above, would be a good 1/2 day trip. Maybe not even that if you did not want it to be. I think it would be a good place to test the waters. It is down by Swan Falls. I think my Jeep would be fine for that. There is a place to play some, or at least you could at one time get a full size 4x4 in there. :fsj:

That's what I'm thinking too. I just want to take a drive and find a nice easy trail/dirt road to enjoy. Just a good ol' fashion shake down run to see how everything works and to check out the scenery. Photos, etc. that sounds good with me George. Let's do it. As long as it's not mud!

If you still decide not to drive your rig, you can sure ride along with one if us. Hiko, I'm just about ready to go. Next weekend may work. How about you? Any weekend this month works. I plan to get my door glass next week. I spent this week chipping away at my long list. Made good headway today. Got some fantastic things accomplished.

Well, this time of year it is mud or frozen mud. I don't think it should be deep mud though. If that is the case I would be ready to go any weekend too.
