I’m working on a deal for a 1989 grand Wagoneer and he says he will throw in a 1970’s Motor out of a j10. What all will I have to chase or do they have similar wiring and I figure the motors aren’t quite the same since they had 3 models of the 360 just not sure of the years.

There will be differences in emissions equipment and possibly the distributor plug; and the 70's motor may or may not have an electric choke. If the truck was an automatic, I believe it will swap right in. I'm not familiar with the 80s starters/trans though, so flywheel and pilot bushing may be different. If it was manual, you'll have to pull the flywheel from (I'm assuming there is a dead) motor in the Wag and install a pilot bushing.

Motor shot and pulled out of GW I need to get pics of 70’s motor to see how complete it is.
