Not my cup of tea, but looks well executed. Wish they'd made a nod to the original FSJ with the D-pillar. The weird "hofmeister kink"-ish design language borrowed from the Renegade does not say "Wagoneer" to me. Seems like they could have referenced the original Brooks Stevens design while still meeting modern engineering/crash standards. But then again I doubt the customer that would buy this car would even care... As Stuka said, it's not supposed to be retro.

Anyway, here's my quickly-bashed-together photoshop fix:

Yea i replied to them on the youtube video, your fixes is the same thing i mentioned before i saw your changes.. So i guess you and me think alike.. The last pillar needs to be slanted not vertical straight up like you did in your picture. Im honestly surprised the designer didnt do this

. The door handles need to be chromed, the taillights covering the entire rear hatch is ugly as sin... I hate long huge taillights like that.. Like the dodge challengers and other dodge vehicles.. ugly. The taillights if i were rich is the main thing that would keep me from buying this..

Thanks for posting, but who has 1/2 hour to watch a commercial for a new car one considers both unaffordable and huge. I had a hard time justifying the size of my KL, much less something larger. Meh.

Yeah I don’t think many here are the intended market. But then back in the 80’s my family never could have afforded a Grand Wagoneer then either. We had an AMC Eagle for a while, and then a bare bones (no radio even) S10 Blazer. The same goes here. I could not justify 90-100K on an SUV. That’s almost what my house cost.

Bleh.

Last Jeep SUV I liked was the earlier Grand Cerokees.

Well, they didn't try to go retro with the look.

It's funny how people seem to forget how expensive our rigs were when new. A 1989 Grand Wagoneer had an MSRP of $26,639. That same year, a Cadillac Eldorado had an MSRP of $25,699, and the Seville had an MSRP of $29,935.

Today, the Cadillac CT6 has an MSRP of $94,985. Cadillac's new Escalade finally has an IRS, and in AWD Premium Luxury trim has an MSRP of $104,290, so it seems the new Grand Wagoneer is priced right.

Oh no i remember. I have a sales sheet on my 90 and it was 30k new. Thats like what 59k$ today according to an inflation calculator i used.

My 98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 limited i have the original window sticker. It was 44,000$ new, according to the inflation calculator that is 69,000$ today. Which is about how much a new Srt8 equivalent Grand cherokee is today

30k is crazy high for 90. My mom always tells me the story of when she and my dad bought a v6 chevy camaro and a chevy s10.. paid cash and got the camaro and pick up for like 8k$ each and 1990 or something in those years

What was silly was that people were paying that for a 30 year old design with fancy trim. Still had the same crappy separate AC and heat, etc.

I have always liked big tail lights. To each their own.
