Walmart Baterries and Warranty

Post by candymancan »

So I have an Everstart Maxx battery in my waggy, the good one with the 5 year warranty, 3 years full replacement and 2 prorated i guess. Has anyone even used the warranty before ? Do i need a receipt because i dont have one, just the sticker on the battery with the date and bar code. It has 2 months left for 3 years, and now that i have a digital volt meter on the Jeep im noticing the voltage is at 12.2-12.3v after it sits overnight. The alternator charges it just fine at 14.4-14.6v hell i have a new 150a on as well.

The voltage is 13.1 when i turn it off, progressivly drops down 13-12.9-12.8-12.7 over time then overnight its always stuck at 12.2 or 12.3v, I believe this means its at 50% capacity and doesnt seem to hold a higher charge anymore. I mean the Jeep starts and runs fine but still, would this constitute getting it replaced under warranty ?

I dont have a parasitic draw either i disconnected the battery to be sure and checked with a volt meter as well

I have used Walmart and they are very good about warrantying their batteries. I dont think they need the receipt because they often faded-away before the 3 years is up. However, they will check it before replacing it and yours may not be far enough gone.

Well brpught it in. This walmart has no service center so they didnt check it. But the old lady god she was nasty. Snippy at me and everyone.

First she said i needed a receipt. Then she scanned it and showed it was pruchased in nov 2017. Then she says its outs warranty.. i said no it has 3 years and 2 more pro rated.. then the computer said it wasnt in warranty.. lol yet it has 2 months left and 2 years pro rated.. waited for a manager.. Then they said the computer was down.

Told em ok its down yet you were able to pull up when i bought it lol.. so i asked if she could try to scan both and see if itll do the exchange and it did.

Why they made it so difficult is beyond me lol. But got a new battery.

Put it in and its at 12.6v vs 12.2 or 12.3 on the old one. So im happy lol

Write a letter to Walmart corporate if you are unhappy with the service. Jobs there are entry level mostly, and I would cut them a little slack.

I buy batteries at Walmart too. The one time I brought in a core, the refund desk handled the sale and they had some extra steps to go through. Followed their procedure and ended up with the result I expected.

Entry level for a 70 year old lady. She has experience.. lol. She was just a nasty old lady hard to explain her attitude. In texts, even people behind me when i turned around were like whoa..

Not gonna bother reporting her just kinda surprised me. When all i was was polite didnt matter what i said though lol

Sometimes old people have money problems too. What do you do when you find that Social Security does not pay the bills?

You need to be polite. Good on you.

I switched over to Advance Auto AGM batteries. Same warranty, cost more but no gassing/corrosion.

Good for you taking the high road. Probably safe to say that lady isn’t living her best life clocking into Walmart in her golden years. Hopefully she finds peace...

Batteries though! I think it was ifsja that I first heard about Interstate stores selling blemishes/remans, and it’s legit. Sold under “econo-power,” they run about $50 with a core and have same warranty as their new stuff. I put them in all our cars and will continue to.

If you don’t like the friends you make in Walmart, it’s worth a look.
