Near Miss?

Post by SJTD »

Don't forget to check out the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn tonight. Might already be too late in the Eastern U.S.?

Will still be pretty close tomorrow but today is the closest.

sunday night was incredible, we could see 4 of Jupiter satellites all lined up 10 to 4 Jupiter in the middle... at the beginning I thought that it was a reflection, all Callista, Io, Ganymed and Europa

Enjoy

Its been pretty awesome to see. Even with the naked eye you can kind of make them out.

Tuesday night was even better, the air is cleaner and we could really separate Saturn rings from the planet core. The old 1940 WWII binoculars worked really well!

Wish i didnt sell my 10 inch dobsonian telescope 4 years ago. 10 inch mirror on a telescope is nice. Had great eye peices as well. Even had a 10x50 nikkon binoculars i gave to a girlfriend once as she got into star gazing.. but then we broke up lol.

I sold the telescooe snd eye peices to buy the welder snd stuff for my wagoneer ironicly lol.

Maybe ill buy a new scope next year. But if i do i want to get a 16 inch mirror.

I do have a cheap pair of 10x50s and a old basic kiddy telescooe my dad got me as a kid.. maybe ill pull them. It is only the planets and binoculars can work for this. Just woulds been nice with a 10 inch mirror telescope lol. With that thing. You could see the colored rings and stuff easily on jupiters gas clouds
