It's 50/50 curious and travel (not recently, thanks to COVID). Not a big problem if it doesn't work as I have VPN - I guess I'll check how Tapatalk works next time I'll got there

Stuka,

Absolutely, do ads suck..yes. But in the end they are everywhere and it’s doubtful that it would even be noticed after a bit. Also the fact the you even asked the opinion of the masses shows how much you respect and value the good folks who enjoy this board.

I agree with some of the other guys on here who have mentioned that they would click the banners just to help out. I think the last thing any of us would want is for the passion you have for Jeep’s and the community that patronize your creation to deteriorate and become burdensome due to the responsibility both time wise and financially. Besides, the amount of money that most of us have saved by learning tech and shortcuts on this forum is most likely far greater than any irritation from a pop up here and there.

So in the end that’s a long winded “Go for it” from me.

And once again, Thank you. This is a really enjoyable space to play in.

Be sure to check into google tax policy.
They file a 1099 with IRS on ad revenue.
You don't want an unwanted surprise come tax season next year.

Have you thought about a gofundme? Members could "donate" and your goal would be visible.
I believe for now they still fly under the radar.

I have had a google adsense account for many many years, so thankfully I am fully aware of that. And even after the tax hit, going off the last 21 days, it should still fully fund what the site cost.

I haven't been around too much lately but I remember all the work that went into trying to resurrect the original board and then setting up the new one, and greatly appreciate your effort, as well as all the information and helpful people hereabouts. Thanks so much for sticking with it and seeing it through all this time. The banner won't bother me and I'm certainly willing to click and help.

Just a note to everybody who happens to read this.

PLEASE do NOT click ads just to click them. This can get counted as invalid traffic and have ads here disabled. If you see a product that you like, you can click it. Just don't click an ad every time you see what to "help the site", as this will get detected and can result in ads being disabled here for invalid clicks.

Why dont you just have a membership for the forum ? Eevery forum ive been on, be it computer, jeeps, fish forums doesnt matter.. They all have memberships. You dont have to be a member to post anywhere.. Instead you can be a member, and get added perks.. Like perks to view and post in a MEMBER only section.. Perks like no ads for example, color changed to your name, stars under your name based on how many posts you have. More posts.. more stars.. Things like this ive seen. It could have other benefits too we just have to think of things

You can charge say 10$ for a membership per month.. Or something like that.. just giving an example.. And this would help fund the site. I rarely click on ads.. What you people dont realize is if you click on an add they log your ip and this sends info to everyone and they will constantly send you ads on every other website based on that and its never ending. Ads can also be malicious.. Ive been building pc's for 25 years now. I dont trust ads.. And i would never click on one, even to support a forum as great as this one.

I would however happily pay 10-15$ a month to become a member. NOTE i am not saying you HAVE to be a member to joint or post here.. Im just saying if people want to be a member, to bypass ads.. or have a member only section to avoid spammers or what not.. why not have this option ? :-bd

I would totally pay a membership fee, better yet just hit a donate button for more support, less integration hassle on your side.

I appreciate your efforts Stuka - this is the only site on the webs I have my adblocker disabled for.
