My J10 has been sitting for over a year with a bad motor and needing a clutch. In that time I have been collecting parts and saving some cash. Stock it has a 258, T176, NP208, Dana 44 front and Model 20 rear which are open, open. I am going to rebuild the 258 with a 4.0 head from a 98 TJ. I am going to rebuild a T18 to replace the T176. I will rebuild a Dana 20 to replace the NP208. I will also rebuild a Dana 60 and Dana44 HD from a J20 to replace the 44 and 10. The Dana 60 will get a Detroit True Trac limited slip. And the front Dana 44HD will get a Detroit soft locker. To top it off I will rebuild a period correct Warn 8274 and install it on a Warn winch bumper with the rare (and ugly) bush guard. And of coarse some Evil Twin Mirror Mounts. This will take some time but if I live long enough it will get done.
Tore down the T18 today. It looks like it's had a rough life. I'll let everything soak in the solvent tank. In the next couple days I'll look at everything and see if I have to order new parts.
Isnt it crazy how expensive a 30 spline Trutrac is compared to a 35? I couldnt force myself to do it. So, I installed a AAM 11.5" with LS and disc brakes for $350. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KI55tbN6p8&t=616s

It looks like you have a transmission from a 1979 FSJ, I can tell by the aluminum shift forks. This was an improved control housing over the earlier T18. Good luck on finding new parts!
I used to name my FSJ’s after their previous owners, I realized I had too many with five named Rick.
