The 260 had the heater hoses hook up as shown here. Later engines had one of them go to the thermostat housing next to the upper radiator hose.tgreese wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 11:31 am Doesn't the AMC 327 dump to the front in the J-series? Maybe they are copying the original routing?
Yep, Ford, though I'd be hard-pressed to identify a 260 versus a 289. Distributor location and orientation is distinctive. Maybe the cues Stuka is looking at for the 260 are the air cleaner and such? The front sump is an interference problem for these engines in Jeeps - IIRC you can get a Bronco (?) pan and move the sump to the back.
Ross steering and hydraulic clutch, so on second thought it was a 230 originally. The engine location is way back compared to the Jeep V8s. Maybe that gives lots of room at the front for the crossover.
If I were selling, I’d list it for 1900 and take 1500.tgreese wrote:Probably less than they want for it, considering how it's displayed.
JMO - I would not pay much for it, considering how many issues they list. GVWR? It's probably a T-90. How can it have a new clutch and shudder into gear? Maybe they mean gear clash.
Check back in six months. They may sell it to some sucker for that much, but seems unlikely.66stepside wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 5:23 pm 7495 firm.
It actually looked worse in person.

Yeah, it is an interesting place for sure. They have an AMC Wagon for 6k, a 67 Chevy 2wd long bed for 8500, plus 100 other newer cars, and of course most of the vehicles look pretty tired.Stuka wrote:Check back in six months. Haha, I bet! It is a good motor.rocklaurence wrote:I saw an old CJ5 with one of those motors transplanted in it. Forward exhaust and everything. Ran Like a Rapped Ape in the sand and up hills
Yeah, it certainly has potential, but not for 8K as it sits.HowardT64 wrote:I like this truck Simple...not a whole bunch of electronic felgercarb...
I have a '51 Willys truck with a 289 in it. It's been a great motor.66stepside wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 1:29 pmHaha, I bet! If it's actually worth 8K, then a new Gladiator must certainly be worth 70K...66stepside wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 1:13 pmYeah, it certainly has potential, but not for 8K as it sits.HowardT64 wrote:I like this truck Simple...not a whole bunch of electronic felgercarb...
