Which Carburetor

Post by Typical10 »

I'm presently rebuilding my 2nd 88 grand wagoneer. It has a 4 barrel holly on a edelbrock manifold. I want to keep the manifold on it but to replace the holly. I use it for a daily driver and hunting rig. I'm looking for gas mileage. A 2 barrel is fine with me, which carburetor would fit this bill? No Holly's or efi.
Thanks, Jeff ~

Factory original Motorcraft 2150 2V and a 2V-4V adapter. Easiest path to fuel economy is to reduce your highway speed, run smaller profile tires, have a light foot.

You can easily put a factory 2150 onto your edelbrock intake with a 2v to 4v adapter. It will run and drive fine with this, but you will end up down on power over what you have now. But your fuel economy isn't going to change really. Thats based off driving style.

There are also two different sizes for the 2150, a smaller one that came on Ford 302's and AMC 304's. And the larger one that came on 351/360 engines.

I have not used these guys before, but they appear to sell rebuilt carbs for a good price: https://swperformanceparts.com/product/ ... rTEALw_wcB

Probably need to check which version they have. You want the 1.21" venturi model.

A common replacement for people that want a new 2v is the Holley 2300, which is basically the same carb as a non-OEM version. I know for some reason you don't want a holley, but they are the only game in town for a V8 2v carb.
