Manual rear window conversion... Is it worth it?

Post by JRod81Cherokee »

Where did you find the conversion kit?
I’ve had problems with mine and I’m going manual, but not sure how to go about it.
My window is also stuck in the down position, any help with that?

JRod - I split your question out of the 2015 thread so it is all yours. There is no conversion kit. Some folks may have collected parts off junkers to convert one to manual. You could set up a wanted ad for the parts and/or start hunting through junk yards.

Team Grandwagoneer has both a regulator for manual crank and the handle set. Not saying this is everything you need but it might be better part of it.

OTOH - They will also refurbish your electric motor.

if you want to keep it simple, yes if you have rear window defroster youll have to trouble shoot the electrical anyway, power to the tail gate is the simplest electrical system in these jeeps, 5 wires check the problem area at the lower driverside corner thats where the wires pass thru from the body to the tail gate the break at that corner bjs sells a switch assembly that will probably last 50 years its that heavy duty. get a factory jeep manual forget the rest they are garbage, spend the 100 bucks youll be glad you did
