Grill paint matte or gloss ?

Post by Triumph215 »

I’m rehabilitating the grill on my ‘77, it’s super faded. Was the grill paint originally matte or gloss?

The black was a matte like black as far as I know. It was intended to give the chrome edges a floating look. But you can really paint it whatever finish you like. A satin or gloss will clean up easier.

Consider semi-gloss for the whole thing..
