Is this the tailgate window motor going bad?

Post by JohnnySwell »

As I’m gutting the Chief my current situation on getting the tailgate window down/up is by connecting those brown and black wires to a power source.

I was connecting it to a leaf blower battery to do so and it was working fine the first handful of times but the past two times it needs a little help pushing the window up while I have the wires touching.

When I touch the wires to the power source the motor sounds like it’s trying to move the window but it’s stuttering.

Does this mean the motor is going bad or is something else in play here??

Maybe the glass is getting a little cocked and hanging up?

When it happens try pulling up on the glass to see how it feels. It should come up a bit before it hits the rollers.

Everything lubed? Put some silicone spray in the side channels. What is the condition of the side channels? My window was really sluggish and replaced all the rubber - now it's great.

Also - check the voltage going to the motor.
