Yeah I read their announcement this morning. 2018 is a ways off, but look forward to seeing it. Of course I won't be able to afford one, not that I have a need for a seven seat SUV anyway. They will be priced up there with Escalades (60-90k). If we translate the price of a 1974 Grand Wagoneer (base model that is not optioned up) it translates to $43,199.09 in todays money. A 1974 Limited translates to $50,326 in todays money.

But back then there was no high end luxury market like there is today. That was the high end market.

But mostly, I just hope it has the proper look and feel to it.

These images have been out for a while, I don't have faith in DC "getting it right" looking back on what followed the XJ and TJ.

Daimler Chrysler has not existed for years though.

What issues do you have with the JK? It drives, rides, and wheels better than a TJ. Every weak link a TJ had was fixed in the JK. The Commander/WK were pretty meh though. Nothing really wrong with the KJ's. They wheel better than the other SUV's they competed with for sure. Looks are debatable.

As for Fiat Chrysler, Fiat has a lot riding on Chrysler, they are not going to screw it up. Daimler tried to force their ways into Chrysler/Jeep products. But Fiat has been quite smart with the the products they are putting out. So far everything they have had their hand in (Except the Dart, but thats for other reasons) has been a large success. And because of Fiat, we are getting Diesel's in Jeeps and 1/2 ton pickups.

But time will tell what the new GW ends up being like.

I suspect that it'll be the size of the Commander but with a car chassis

Car chassis? Its using the same platform as the Grand Cherokee and Durango (WK2 platform). no it is nod body on frame (thankfully), but its not a car platform.

The Commander (and the GC of that time period) used the WK platform.
