Wow, thats in great condition. There is a guy around here that daily drives a wagon. I see that thing everywhere.

When I was growing up we had a 4dr Eagle sedan. My mom liked it, but it had the plastic valve cover that always leaked. And in order to get the valve cover off, you had to remove the rear rocker (This was with a 258). Granted I was not nearly old enough to work on it, but this was from me watching my dad work on it.

It was a cool car. But we traded it in for a brand new '85 Chevy S10 Blazer with the 4.3L. That ended up being a great rig. Cherokee's at the time didn't have the 4.0 yet, so they were horribly underpowered.

That is cool you had one in the family growing up. My grand parents bout a 72 Hornet wagon when grandad retired. I always liked wagons, that one included. We picked up this 84 Sport 3 years ago when I was disgusted with the POS Outback we had. It was a good buy at 1200 and it came loaded with spare parts. The 258 plastic valve cover was a sad time for AMC. My 81 J10 had one and it dribbled all the time I owned it. This Eagle has a 90 XJ 4.0 in it with complete XJ engine bay wiring spliced in. It was rebuilt along with the 998 and a rebuilt GW 229 installed. An Eagle with low range is a beautiful thing. So far I am averaging about 6000 a year on it. It is the spare "car" for days when we can't drive to work together. I would like to get it on top some more mountain passes.

My J10 also came with the plastic cover. It now has an aluminum one. One of the best things I ever did to it :)

The alum valve cover is the answer. Some mechanics have probably made some nice green working on those plastic fitted 258s. Honestly, the paint is faded pretty bad. It looks good for about a day after hand wash. The Vatiiva AT tires I put on it a couple years ago work great in snow and are the only serious money I have spent besides replacing the RF axle shaft and hub bearings last winter.

I was checking phone connection on our old visitor info radio transmitter here at work. Nice view from this spot.

The other Jeep gets driven to work at least one day a week. It has been suffering from a vacuum leak I have not been able to find for a few months of off and on tinkering. My back has not been well and I broke down and got the oil changed at Jiffy Lube last Thursday. It had been a year and 3000 miles. My comment above about 6000 a year is wrong. It is 6000 since we bought it in 09. Anyways, when I drove off from the oil change, the vacuum leak was gone. When I got to work I called them to see if they remembered what they found unplugged or whatever. They thought I called to complain and I told them quite the opposite. The managercould not remember anything specific about the car except that his aunt had one once, lol. Now I don't know what leak source is. Crap, I will take it back for an oil change the next time it runs rough. :-bd

Running like a top yesterday.

We got snow last night as well. Drove my Wife's XJ to work, as I got it smogged today. Now to list it in the paper and hope for the best. We just don't have room for four Jeeps in the driveway.

The two horses get about 4 acres. That leaves me an acre to strategically place FSJs so it looks like we have more horses than Jeeps. \:D/

I'll have pics of my Eagle soon. It's still stuck in the garage and I'm awaiting a NP229 tomorrow to work on it!

The radiator blew out on the Eagle 2 weeks ago. :-q I sold a QT chain to Bob so I would have some extra funds to fix or replace it. Fortunately, it did not need a core and was repaired today for a reasonable $105. I will get it back on Monday and need this thing running so I can go to Albuquerque and catch a flight to Florida next weekend, Oye. My daughter is having my first grandson. YAY! B-)

Radiator dipped, repaired, pressure tested, installed with new serpentine belt, electric fan fasteners, radiator cap and antifreeze. The radiator support in these are flimsy. The problem was the AC condenser had rubbed against the front of the radiator. 2 tubes had to be blocked off.

Now cleared for flight duty to Albuquerque.

Your investment in the QT chain helped a lot Bob. Thanks. B-)
