The problem was the AC condenser had rubbed against the front of the radiator. 2 tubes had to be blocked off.
Now cleared for flight duty to Albuquerque.
Your investment in the QT chain helped a lot Bob. Thanks. B-)
I am assuming you've already flown the coop. Good luck!
I flew out of Tampa on Monday eve. My connection in DFW was delayed. I got out of there at 11:30 at night. The next day all hell broke loose with tornadoes in the DFW region. The thunder storms flying along the Gulf coast were incredible light shows. It was one helluva ride from tropical Gulf coast of Florida back to 7000 feet at Jubilee Stables. Rolled into Albuquerque at 1AM Tues then arrived home at 1PM on Tuesday.
It's getting there. Still a little rough around the edges. It's getting a small lift (I'll attempt to fit my 33/9.50/15s from my MJ just for fun, but probably only 235/75/15s) I have a stroker motor in pieces waiting to go in should the 4.2L aggravate me too much with the plastic valve cover. First order of business is swap out the *$^#% 2 piece Model 15 rear axle for an 8.25 from an XJ (it was only $35 with 3.08 gears) then once Black Jack is done, the AW4 and EFI will go in. An LPG powered FSJ is what I want now ($2 a gallon)
PS: That's on my driveway (almost 4 miles long and shared with only a couple hundred others)
fulsizjeep wrote:The alum valve cover is the answer. Some mechanics have probably made some nice green working on those plastic fitted 258s. Honestly, the paint is faded pretty bad. It looks good for about a day after hand wash. The Vatiiva AT tires I put on it a couple years ago work great in snow and are the only serious money I have spent besides replacing the RF axle shaft and hub bearings last winter.
I was checking phone connection on our old visitor info radio transmitter here at work. Nice view from this spot.
Flint, that is one heck of an antenna.

Jeeps don't break down, they're just extremely demanding when they need parts replaced!
My new toy, picked it up on Wed in Denver. 1985 CJ-7 with the original paint, fuel injected 4.2L, on-board air system, ARB front air locker and a posi rear, warn 8000 lb winch, 33x12.5x15 BFG MT/R's and only a few areas of surface rust.

I've wanted an Eagle since I first saw one about 5-6 years ago. Sweet cars. Would love to do the 4.0 head swap on one and DD it. Maybe if I sell my Malibu.
Nice wagon, Seen many for sale around here for about 3 grand and they are always sold when I call.
I ain't seen but one Eagle sedan for sale, They were asking 6,500 drove by it going to work and by the end of the day it had been sold when I called after work.
Some one must have money to spend ? or these things are being coming collectible ?
I think I would rather have the 2dr SX/4 I6 5spd ! I'm sure they boo koo bucks !
Well you did good at $1,200 around here equally nice Eagle wagons are around $2,500-$3,500. The wagon to me is a decent machine but they aren't worth 3 grand to me.
The 4dr sedan is neat and don't really see any of them but they aren't anything I would seek out either.
I have however thought about an SX/4 they look fun, Never see any of them for sale around here unless they are totally shot.
fulsizjeep wrote:The other Jeep gets driven to work at least one day a week. It has been suffering from a vacuum leak I have not been able to find for a few months of off and on tinkering. My back has not been well and I broke down and got the oil changed at Jiffy Lube last Thursday. It had been a year and 3000 miles. My comment above about 6000 a year is wrong. It is 6000 since we bought it in 09. Anyways, when I drove off from the oil change, the vacuum leak was gone. When I got to work I called them to see if they remembered what they found unplugged or whatever. They thought I called to complain and I told them quite the opposite. The managercould not remember anything specific about the car except that his aunt had one once, lol. Now I don't know what leak source is. Crap, I will take it back for an oil change the next time it runs rough.
Running like a top yesterday.
I had a 4.0 intake with a leak that would come and go, would actually whistle at times, when I took it out a chunk was cracked off of the rear port.
They must not salt around you guys ? Everything around me from the mids 90s is rotten ! How your finding 80s vehicles this clean I can't seem to figure out. My Comanche is clean but I'm sure after a wisconsin winter or 2 it will start flaking away and be rotten in no time. The AM Generals are well protected chemical resistant paint and all.
