Wagoneer power train mileage expectancy ?

Post by BOODER21 »

How about some comments regarding potential or average mileage before a major breakdown. Looking for your best guess, belief or understanding pertaining to a 1990 GW with AMC 360, Chry 727, NP 219/229 ... What odometer readng should be expected before a major breakdown of; engine, trans, or transfer case ? I really don't have a clue as to any history for these Jeeps (and a few other things-FYI). By the way, 3 sold and 3 to go.

I don't think there is a set number.

I just depends on way to many factors.

With something that is 25 years old, it's really hard to tell as time is just as damaging as miles.

I'm driving a 1989 with little over 161k miles on it, all stock, and so far so good... :D

I have 241k on the original engine in my J10, but lots of other stuff has been replaced. If you are looking for one, just try to find one that has been maintained and has not sat unused for years.

On my 4.2L in my '83 Cherokee, I had 300,000+ miles on it (swapped in from my Eagle with @250K when it keeled over from rust)
