Hi, I've ordered a new aluminium edelbrock manifold for a 360 I've got some POR15 heat proof/shield paint, would it be alright to paint the manifold before installation plus anyone know if POR15 is good to use on aluminium. Thanks
Painting before you install them should be just fine (and easier). I just finished painting up some cast replacement manifolds I picked up off of eBay with the flat black POR-15 High Temp. As long as you degrease it well and rough up the surface a little bit with some 320 grit sandpaper (the can has it in the instructions) it should adhere well.
I wire brushed the rust and crud off of the used ones and then used some degreaser to clean them. left them to dry in the sun and put two coats on them. Now I just have to get the old manifolds off (without breaking or stripping a bolt) and get them installed. Good luck!

I would put tape on the gasket surfaces and paint everything else. IMO the POR15 product is overkill for this. Plain engine enamel spray bomb will be fine, or the high-temperature Rustoleum if you want something fancier. Even barbeque paint if you like the available colors. The Ace spray paint covers well and is a good value, BTW.
