Have an 80 Cherokee with Edelbrock SP-2P on a 360 running propane. Was considering removing propane and dropping on a Edelbrock 1406 carb. Any problems anybody can see or am I good to go?
1980 Cherokee,360/727/208, propane powered,unknown lift,31' Adventuro's on Chevy rims,Warn winch
1980 J10,360/standard/208, stepside
1970 GMC 4X4 Pickup, 78 frame, 84 350, Turbo 350/205, patina galore
1986 Blazer K5, 350/205/465 trans
1990 Cherokee XJ, about to scrap for FSJ parts, gone to parts graveyard in sky
If your going to Trail Ride/ Off Road it Id invest in the 4x4 needle kit. I didnt like the Edelbrock on my J10. I constantly had Idle and flooding issues off road.
The Holley Truck Avenger was awesome

Similar experience. TA for the win. I have an SP2P on a 401 and like it a lot.
That is good news. Truck is 90% on road with an occational trip down a dirt road. Was worried about the small looking runners on the intake. Hoping it would provide more torque at lower RPM than the stock setup. Also concerned the 1406 may be to big for the setup.

I got a 1406 on my Cherokee to work adequately offroad. Which was mostly forest roads, but with some steep climbs, not much off camber.
I use the offroad kit, lowered the floats, and put a piece of rubber fuel line in the rear passage that goes between the two float bowls. This helps for off camber situations.
Before I put the kit, the engine would surge going over speed bumps. After wards it worked pretty well. The only time I had a flooding issue was on a really steep climb, which I had to back down with the engine off. I think it was the only time I was happy I didn't have power brakes.

The connecting hose idea sounds great. I often thought about how to connect the bowl vents etc but couldnt imagine how. Can you elaborate on the fix--pictures?

This is not my video, but he goes over the fuel bowl block towards the end. It’s super simple and works well for off camber stuff.
He also goes over having a fuel pressure regulator which I forgot to mention.
