1974 J10 119" Albion, MI

Post by Thomas792 »

1974 AMC Jeep J10 Townside Pickup with 119” wheelbase

Bought in 1997 with what was described as a bad transfer case. Had that rebuilt and found out transmission was bad. Had that rebuilt and found that the engine was not too strong and had a lower end ticking noise. Drove it 200 miles before pulling the engine for rebuild. Military move forced stowage in parents barn for past too many years. Family situation forces sale.

Drivetrain:
-AMC 401 cu in V8 (Z in the vin says 401 was authentic to the chassis)
-GM TH400 heavy duty three speed transmission
-Bog Warner BW1339 QuadraTrac transfer case with 2.57 low range unit and proper QuadraTrac fluid

-Engine was rebuilt with mild performance parts from PAW and in final stage of reassembly (pushrod length needs to be determined)
-Transmission and transfer case were professionally rebuilt with less than 200 miles
-Transfer case rebuilt by T&J of San Diego to stock+ specs - no part time conversion
-Replacement four core radiator

Steering, Suspension and Wheels:
-Steering column from 70’s Wagoneer to eliminate the problematic tilt mechanism
-Dana 44 Front and Rear axles with 3.54 gear ratio and 6 bolt pattern. Front has been trussed
-2.5” Rancho RS 44044 spring lift in front and 3” blocks in rear.
-Front disk and rear drum brakes.
-15” x 7” 8 spoke steel wagon wheels with BF Goodrich 28” tires

Exhaust:
-Hooker Super Competition headers with Air Injection fittngs
-Crossover tube exhaust kit for true H style exhaust - not installed

Electrical:
-Painless Wiring 18 circuit rewiring kit mostly installed
-Original points distributor to keep electrical simple and EMP proof :D

Fuel:
-Carter AFB
-New polyurethane gas tank
-Improvised fuel filler neck due to unavailability of stock replacement

Body and Interior:
-Minor dings and dents characteristic of a 40+ year old truck
-Passenger front fender a little bent out of shape
-Relatively minor rust on the exterior but floorboards are rusted through
-Bench seat pulled from another Jeep truck in a salvage yard – not installed
-Sliding rear window from another Jeep truck in a salvage yard – not installed
-No A/C - didn't come with A/C installed
-York A/C compressor fitted to turn into air compressor - not compete
-Pre-1978 Jeep truck Brow

Asking $4000 which is slightly less than the full motor rebuild cost. You get the rest for free. There might be other goodies inside. All parts present to make the vehicle whole again.
