Glorified Work Truck Build

Post by Rockdrummer93 »

So almost a year ago I picked up a couple of J trucks. With the hopes to take the two and make one good one. Been wanting a truck that could take a little beating, go anywhere and be able to do small jobs around the house. Black J20 and the White J10. The J20 was too far gone but what I’ve wanted. J10 in better shape but still gonna need some TLC.

The Plan:
Move all what makes the J20 a J20 over to the J10. Get it running and driving. Going to do a spring over/shackle flip along with the supporting mods and run 37s. The J20 is already gone. I have pulled everything off and got rid of that shell. And the J10 is in the shop getting ready to have the axles pulled.

This is gonna be a long time project and kinda on the back burner. However I am going to try and speed the axle/suspension part to get parts out of the floor of my shop. Get it running and mobile so I can stop pull/pushing it in and out of the shop. Will keep this page updated as work progresses

I know the feeling of having a project you can't move around on its own.

Same with my '84 GW I brought home a year ago.

Engine running for some months now, but needed tires, and Jeep budget was low so saved up and finally got 2 tires a month back with the other 2 going on it tomorrow.

Working brakes and other needs while tires get mounted.

Yep, keep sharing pics of progress and keep chipping away, as the end goal is worth all the fun :)

Looks like a nice project. What year is the J10? If you decide to sell the J10 axles, please let me know. I'm looking for 1980 or newer axles (driver side front drop, and centered in rear). Thanks

Small updates. Did get the Jeep to fire off the other week. Haven’t got it to run sustainably yet but I feel like it will. Still waiting on the extra cash to order the axle brackets then it will be sitting it on the j20 axles and moving it out of the shop for other projects.
