Rebuilding Old J200

Post by sasq40 »

My friend got this unit from an auction years ago. The previous owner cut the top, probably intending to add a soft top. It sat on their family farm for a while, but I took it to restore. According to him, it ran initially, but someone tried starting it in gear and destroyed the starter. I'm excited to rebuild it and already found a cab at a junk yard.

Where can I find info on these old relics? Need to know the year, probably around 63-65 due to the tornado engine. Also need a starter. Planning to keep it as a Sunday driver, just adding bigger tires.

Looks like a cool project.

The elongated tail lights and front fender markers suggest a later year, but the Rhino grill and Tornado are period correct for a 60's model.

I am guessing you plan on swapping the cab from the parts truck?
