I’d like to remove the steering column from my Wagoneer. The attached image shows the wires coming out of the column. Are those factory connections, or does it look like they’ve been cut and spliced sometime before? I’m considering cutting and adding in a 6 way and 2 way Delco plug to make removal easier if I ever need to remove the column again. Has anyone ever done this before? Thanks.

A '70 Wagoneer will have the same column as a 1972. There should be a connector like this -

This appears to match your wires that have been spliced. I'd put a connector back there; Amazon has a selection of different automotive connector including WeatherPack and other work-alikes.
Above is from the '72 TSM, which you can buy at RockAuto, either on paper or media. Not expensive. It will help you. The '72 TSM under AMC has a lot more info than the books from the Kaiser era. Not much changes until the major revision of these vehicles in 1974. Some of the colors are different, or maybe I'm mixing up the sets of 6 and 2 you refer to. Would be easy to trace the wires back and match to function if you had the book and the car in front of you.

I would get both the '70 and '72 TSM - neither is very expensive.

Thank you Tim, that’s exactly the info I needed! I have the ‘70 TSM, which as you say is very limited in detail. I’m going to put original style plugs back in place. I have a few I purchased from The Electrical Depot.
You might consider putting some zip ties or something around either end of the plug--if you're working under the dash a fair bit the plug will like to come just a little loose and you lose your turn signals and horn. I haven't had that issue in awhile but I used to have it a lot.
There are 2 major differences between new Wranglers and FSJs. FSJs are meant to be both utilitarian and capable, not just capable. FSJs are also rarely initially recognized as Jeeps by the average American.
