Body Mounts: OEM or 2"?

Post by pyro »

Well I figure it's about time to replace the body mounts. I don't plan to add a suspension lift any time soon, however i see on BJ's that their 2" body lift kit is only $30 more than an oem height kit. I figure my stock springs are worn anyway so any lift could help at this point.

Anyone have pics of a body lift on a j10? Pros/cons for one over the other? Thanks!

The body lifts only include spacers for the body mounts, not actual body mounts. You have to use your original ones or buy new ones. So if you need new mounts you will need both kits to add the body lift.

I vote against body lifts. They cause stress cracks to the body. And on a truck they can limit how much you can haul.

And like mentioned above, body lifts do not include actual body mounts.

Just saw this post and am wondering if it would be a viable option for my j20 since I plan on new body mounts with the new cab. I have a flatbed so no need for them there so I don't think my hauling abilities would be affected. I think it would be good since I'd have a little more clearence in the engine bay for the 4bd and it would have an even better look and be better for a slightly bigger tire down the road.
