Wow. I've missed a lot! I went with the Fel-Pro valley pan style gasket as I hadn't read these posts since Friday. I appreciate the additional posts and hope they help others in the future. Thanks everyone!

The gaskets supplied with the kit work just fine if installed correctly. I have never had one leak.
Absolutely true if installed properly they work fine. Sometimes on a rebuilt motor with milled surfaces both sets of gaskets help seal. I recommend the Valley pan & put the fel pros also because I have seen them leak. It's fact. So it may just have a function. If the surfaces aren't perfect the dual gaskets rock. More are not perfect than are (Fact). Should of, would of, could have, didn't, famous last words. If they leak it sucks & it's really hard to find. I do guarantee it does/can happen.

haminawag wrote:If it were mine I'd go with the Edelbrock or a Mr. Gasket, since the Edelbrock intake has no exhaust crossover there's no reason to have that big "valley pan" cause oil can't cook onto the bottom of the intake like it can with a stock intake. Cheaper and easier too.
LOL unless it is an Air gap intake it DOES IN fact have a crossover. Another FACT.
Partial crossover??????????????????????
is that like being a little bit pregnant?

Holley cow. I did in fact use gasket that seals mine up on top of the valley pan gasket.

For those who like pictures, about half way down my build thread are a bunch of pictures of the intake removal and installation. More to come after this weekend. http://fsjnetwork.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3585

Excellent picture of the heat riser ports. My new build is with a airgap it will be interesting to see how it will respond with out a heat riser.

I boogered mine shut, it works awesome. It's always been quick to start but also slow to warm up. Since I ditched the damper plate I also got rid of the crossover, since it could no longer do anything but cause problems.

Yeah I closed mine up with gaskets & sheet metal plates. Considering how much is warms up to how much it runs. It was a great trade off.

Some intakes have full length heat risers that go from one cylinder head to the other, these are called continuous heat riser manifolds. Other intakes have shortened heat risers that do not pass from one cyl head to the other, these are called abbreviated, or partial heat riser manifolds. The guy was right, oil wont burn on most aluminum intakes or any intake with abbreviated heat risers. Do you really think Edelbrock would reccommend the wrong gaskets for their intakes???? buy a clue hotshot!

LOL bought a fact don't need the clue. One I used gaskets & a valley pan just like I said in my previous post my edelbrock does go from one side to the other un abbreviated. Not saying they don't exist but they don't in the 2131. Mine got hotter than well you know. Now it doesn't The pictures show the intake (did you look at the pictures???) I have it's an Edlebrock see the 2 exhaust ports????? It's exactly what I have. Edelbrock does not say don't use the valley pan & I don't have to use their gaskets. I never said anything about any oil burning or referenced any aluminum conductance to cast iron. So what is that all about???????. You must have gotten confused somehow. :P Read the threads dude! :P

The more I think about this the funnier it is.
