Hi guys I have been lurking on this forum for a while and I have finally decided to start a build thread.
A bit of background on my J20 it is one of the few made in Auckland, New Zealand under licence to Jeep Australia. Its a 1982 with a brow, i don't think we ever had the brow less ones here. I bought it unseen from the NZ equivalent of Ebay and had it shipped down from Auckland. I ended up paying about $1700nz which for you guys ls like $1200. The jury is still out as to if that was too much or too little as they don't crop up here every day and I had wanted one for a long time. Heres the photo as it appeared on Trademe, not very pretty.
And here she is when she arrived at my place (ignore my friend standing in front if her blocking the view.
So far i have cleaned up the interior which was about and inch deep in dried dirt and cigarette packets...
And i have stripped and rebuild the motor it came with (350chev unfortunately)
The glass and paint were in pretty poor condition as you can see from this shot
I am in the middle of stripping down the front axle assembly and the frame for a repaint at the moment as well as sorting out a new exhaust as the old one was so rusted through that it basically fell off when I pulled on it. Im very interested to see what you guys have to say about the NZ and Aussie J20s and any help along the way with the build would be much appreciated. Will update as soon as anything more gets done.
