That #80 is just a number for valving on Fox Shocks (different size opening, higher the number the smaller the opening). It is not a measurement in pounds or anything like that. #90 seems to be the highest.
Oh, I get it. It's a "number 80" orifice rather than an "80 pound" rate. I'll keep searching but I might just take a guess and go 255/70, if I can't find any good info. As always, I'm open to suggestions, experience or direction from you guys.

Good to know! Really, I'm more concerned with the higher speed damping for highway driving than off so that's the info I wanted to get. Sounds like 255/70 might be the way to go on those, then.

I've got a question regarding shock length. I can't find what the compressed length of the OEM shocks were on my '89 GW, but I found that the replacement "Gabriel Guardian" brand shocks compress to ~12". Does that number sound right to you? What are the compressed/extended lengths of shocks that you guys are running with your lifts?

Easy enough to measure yours. Measure the body length from tip to the eye that is mounted to the body. Then measure the part of the end of the shaft from the center of the eye to the part that contacts the body when fully compressed. Then add those together. 12" is probably close, but if you are going to lift, that measurement is useless. You need to measure when your compressed and drooped length are then order a shock that fits that size.
Thanks, as usual, Stuka. I measure close to 12" but I wasn't sure. When I get the new leafs on, I'll see how far they compress before getting new shocks for sure... I'm just starting my shopping research and was thinking that a ~14" compressed length might be a good place to start. Do you remember what shock length you're running on your 6" lift? (just wondering if shock body length has a linear correlation to lift)
