Goterdun. The purple radiator is no longer flat and square. :o Could have something to do with the crack. I think it can be fixed. Also got the last nice spare fan shroud on it. Another project to put towards the resurrection me thinks. :-bd

We abused our ISP bandwidth this billing period so they choked us back to 40K upload. :banghead: Pix from work tomorrow. :P The purple radiator does not show in pictures at all but a tape measure shows it is slightly twisted like me, SeƱor Jackhead.

Ahhh, and a first hand experience of antifreeze concentrate splash in in the left eye revealed a numb eyeball for a few minutes. The over flow tube flopped over and flang it right at me. Glad I got this knocked out yesterday because it is trying to snow today.

You see my garage is invisible. ;) The house beyond Phoebe? Well, that is the nieghbor across the road. That monstor is 5500 sq ft for 2 people. Our place is small but we have 5 acres of pinyon & juniper trees. :)

Flint I am not sure what that feels like but I can say from first hand experience, a direct shot of carb cleaner is also a very unpleasant experience 8-) I had forgotten to wear these.

Carb cleaner, that burns! The antifreeze had a little sting, then numbness. I was wearing my regular glasses and it shot right in by the temple in the corner of the eye. I stood over the kitchen sink flushing it with cold water. With the ground frozen, the cold water coming in the house is very chilly and I was able to feel the sting of the cold by the time I got done flushing. Oye.

Flint and I have been driving her to work regularly the past few weeks. We discovered the fuel pump - which is probably 20 or more years old - has gotten loose and will rattle on the wash board roads so that the electrical connection fails. We figured out pretty quick that you just coast to the side of the road, hop out, and pull the pump back towards the frame and the connection is established again. I reckon we ought to replace that sometime in the near future. It was rather amusing when it failed in the main intersection of Mancos, and I had to lay on the road in my good work clothes with all sorts of traffic watching. At least I got a thumbs up from a couple guys when I hopped out, rolled under her, grabbed the pump without burning myself on the exhaust, got back in, fired her up and through the intersection in less than 40 seconds. :D

We also been banging our heads on why her fuel consumption is so damn god awful, why she won't start well, and why she's running a bit rough. She was getting maybe 8 mpg tops - probably less. Well....er.... durrrrr..... Flint just remembered that we had rejetted and tuned her for low elevation before we hit the Box Canyon trail where we rolled! She's been running at 7000 - 8000 feet but tuned for 4000 feet!!!! :banghead:

So, she's getting rejetted, retimed and regapped plugs.

And, as cool as it's been to be driving my girl again, the really cool thing is all the attention she's getting from other people! We can see people in other cars turning their heads to watch her go by, and lots and lots of people come up and check her out in parking lots and approach Flint and I to ask questions! What a trip! We knew how awesome she was in our minds when we brought her home from AZ, but it seems like lots of other people are really taken with her now too! Funny how a little paint can make such a difference! :)

Did some Phoebe Too 401 tuning today. Pulled the TA off and found the two rubber plugs on the vacuum ports at the base plate in the front were cracked and leaking. Fixed another vacuum leak along with these. Rejetted to from 59/89 to 61/91 and advanced the timing for optimum vacuum which is about 12 hg with the VooDoo cam. Getting closer to the way we like her to run. Also got the electric choke wired up. Will test that in the morning. Pretty Happy with the improved take off response. :fsj:

Just read the 18 pages to this thread. Beautiful vehicle you guys have there.

The work that was put into the Jeep from so many is fantastic! What awesome camaraderie. :fsj:

Thanks. Definitely a labor of love from a lot of people in this Jeep.

Yesterday, I took the class 5 hitch off Wally and we got it mounted on Phoebe. No time to paint on this project because we were after the car trailer and a load of hay. Krista will be stripping the reflective tape off and we'll paint it all black later.

...and the story goes on.

I did not connect the power to the TA carb back in 2010 because I was in a hurry <again> to get the top end work done for Ouray. Then she ended up in So AZ for 18 months so this is the first winter we have run the TA. I finally got the choke wired up but had trouble dialing it in. I took some time this morning when it was 32 outside and found the stove choke coil was not connected to the choke linkage. :banghead: A few minutes later and the engine started with one tap on the go peddle. Pleased with that fix. :D

BlackBart said to stay away from the rubber plugs because they will crack. He said to go with the hard plastic ones instead, he says they will last longer, plus they come in colors!
