Oh man - I literally can't wait until next year to do this.

I'm depending on Jason to tow my junk out there on the trailer.....

Where do most folks live near the Rubi? I'm only asking as a option for those (maybe myself), who will need to fly in?
I'm guessing either Reno,or Sacramento are the closest airports.

Reno and Sacramento are good choices since the other airports are 3rd string and costly to get into.

If you decide on Sactown, I will volunteer to drive whomever up to the trailhead.
I am sure the Reno/Tahoe/Carson crowd would be willing to do the same.

Since I am doing a powertrain swap, I am leaning toward late summer early fall-ISH

Update:

I'm still planning to go on this trip. But plans have changed. Long story short, I am selling my house in Longmont and taking the equity to buy a place in Drake CO. I'm going to be living off grid, yet still be able to commute to work.

The place that I'm (hopefully) buying is on a dirt road with quite a few tight turns and gets a lot of snow. I took my old '34 GN trailer up to the property just to see if it was possible (empty). My old dually was able to pull it up there, but barely and I mean BARELY. The switch backs were almost too much for it and that was with no snow. I got the trailer high centered once and had to back down the hill and make a larger turn. That thing is low to the ground and looooong. It's really tough to get around.

So I ended up trading the 34' GN for a smaller 22' deck over GN with two 7k axles (same as the 34' one). I ended up with a 2014 model that was made by a company in Loveland CO. It looks pretty much brand new.

So ya, count me in for the trip and I'll tow my own junk out there. Might be easier anyway because of the California laws...

Cool! That trailer should be better for what you need anyway.

Will it hold the FJ80 and the Honcho?

Would Georgetown, California be the best rendezvous for this event?

Not trying to step on any toes here. Heck I'm not even 100% sure I'm in. Just sitting around the house dreaming of a jeep adventure with fellow jeepers :-bd

Georgetown is a very popular meetup place. Another is the Loon Lake trailhead; There is a large granite quarry with tons of parking...something lacking in G-Town during the spring and summer.

I'll consider going, I might even bring my wagon if I get it finished by then. Won't take it much ferther than Wentworth though (not a crawler), but I certainly do enjoy camping up there.

There are 2 small airports in San Joaquin for those considering flying in.
Stockton Flys Alegent, and Lodi connects to Vegas. 2 hour drive from Stockton to icehouse unless your towing or geared down.

Any firm dates yet? Who's doing FSJ and who's doing something else? Kinda like the idea of 3 days on the rubicon with my Brute TJ Rubicon, then a couple more on some easier stuff in a FSJ as was mentioned earlier. I'd need dates so we could plan, but definitely a bucket list item for me.

Last time I talked to Jason, I think he mentioned he is out. He is rebuilding Brutus and just had a new child.

I am also pretty much out for 2017. We moved to an off-grid property a couple of months ago and are busy making plans to build a cabin.

Stuff happens.

I would like to to keep this thread going and would like to shoot for summer of 2018.

So is this a go in late September. Pirate 4x4 has a Rubicon Trail calendar so you can see what is going on. I would love to go and will be driving my 1975 J20 truck. I try to go several times a year, but due to the snow being very deep up there right now many plans have changed for several folks
