I'm test fitting some parts. Anyone mounted their horns front side of the core support? 77 Chief is a razor grill, so the pies are not used. I mounted on the driver's side since may use the passenger side for the AC drier.

I modified the OEM bracket above the driver's side rear wheelwell to re-use it for the fuel tank roll over check valve. I would prefer to mount outside the cab, but these things have to be mounted higher than top of fuel neck so no real option.

I routed the fuel lines from the tank to the fuel filter / regulator and onward to the fuel rail. Using Russell rubber line kit, rated at 250 PSI, and black Russell fittings. Getting the line on to the fitting is a bear.

Plan to wrap the fuel line with a 3/4 inch heater hose anywhere where the lines could rub a bolt, frame edge, etc.

Actually just going to use this as an instruction manual for my new chief. Although I fear my body work will be a bit more intensive seeing the rusted floor pans and fenders

Also tricks or processes for posting pics? Pm reply is fine.

Ordered a clocking ring; I'll try this out next weekend. Should get the front output on the 241C up a bit higher and create room for a cross-member.

My paint gun is giving me issues; keep it clean, so not sure what's up. Nothing special as far as gun, Eastwood Concours Pro. Seems to be leaking out from below the air cap while trigger is pulled. There's a seal, plastic, on back side of the fluid tip and it could be the issue. Anyhow, it was a frustrating weekend as a result.

Got DTM, base coat and clear coat on the inside of the passenger door and tailgate. I really wanted to lay it down smooth as some of this paint will be visible when assembled; it's okay, but I'm going to revisit this when I get gun issues solved.

Back on the transfer case today. Installed the clocking ring.

Cut some unneeded ears off the case so it could pivot up another inch towards the passenger floor.

Trimmed up and ready for install.

Image20181207_164633_resized by Max Bouthillette, on Flickr

I'm still at 0 degrees / level on the drivetrain (TC is on a jack stand), so if I drop 1 to 3 degrees with the new crossmember, that will increase the clearance for the passenger floor. At 0 degrees, I can pass my hand between the TC and the floor, but rub knuckles.

The clocking ring now installed puts the cable shifter mount hardware out of alignment as the mount uses the TC to transmission adapter bolts which are now clock'd out of alignment with the actual lever that shifts the from 2wd, 4wd etc. Did some test fits of the whole shifter assembly and this is the easiest piece to modify:

I just have it tack welded here to check fitment.

Everything fit and worked well. Took everything back apart, finished the weld, painted the brackets and transfer case. Put it all back in this time with the gaskets and blue Loctite. What's left is to mount the shifter itself but I need to wait for the dash install to sort out location for it and the transmission shifter.

Slow going today. The DBW pedal from CP would have mounted too low to the floor. I tacked up some spacers to the bracket to raise up / away from the firewall.

Image20181209_132355_resized by Max Bouthillette, on Flickr

I thought these spacers would be enough and went ahead and welded on some thick washer to give it more footing, and painted it for install. Was still a bit low so doubled on the spacers and have it just about right now, maybe .75" too far from the firewall (it's about 1.25 inch back of the brake pedal). Next weekend, I'll cut .75" from the second set of spacers.
