Jacob and I spent a few hours working on his Chero today. Here is the list
-Replace the steering gear box with a new J20 box
-Installed drop pitman arm
-Installed the lengthened front drive shaft
-He did his first oil change ever, made him do it on his own
-Replaced all the belts
After driving it up and down the street for the first time ever, we noticed a loud clunk when hard braking in both drive and reverse. After some looking around we figured out that the DSPO never welded the front spring perches to the axle tube when he did the spring over so the whole axle is rotating in the U-bolts when braking, doh!!
This would explain why the front driveshaft wouldn't fit when we tried to reinstall it and also explains why the tierod hits the bottom of the springs.
