Thanks as for the “work” comment. I couldn’t be happier with how the underside is coming along. Now if the topside just matched....

Anyone have any luck getting this trim off, then more importantly back on?

Fired up today for the first time. All went well with the engine, having trouble getting fuel from tank though. New pump/lines/tank... never dull

Got the p/s cleaned, sandblasted, painted, and rebuilt. Got it hung on the motor along with a cleaned up crank pulley. Image

Bad news... figured out the fuel pump issue, but now I’ve got lots of smoke coming from oil fill cap vent on cranking. I’m assuming from crankcase overpressure due to failed rings. Compression test shows: 1-139, 2-140, 3-126, 4-150, 5-132, 6-140, 7-140, 8-170. So, I’m calling the engine builder this morning as it may be coming back out.

Did you do the compression test wet? Those numbers are pretty high for failed rings, but too much variation if the test was done wet.

Called engine builder. He thinks they’re washed too. Could be head gasket, could be partial ring(s). Need to take it back.

Ya, “moist” I used a shot or 2 of WD40.

Man I like that rig. I am not sure I would paint it. New tires / wheels and interior and the faded orange on that perfect rust free rig looks so right.

Very nice looking truck!!! Great work and nice build!! Are those the "short" Hedman Headers?? Looks like they fit nice. Looking to upgrade my 79 J-20!!

Thanks. It was coming along nicely before this mild set back. The headers are Patriot Clippster Headers H8600-1. So far so good, and I can pull all 8 plugs without insane tools and the flanges are pretty stout.

So.... it’s been a while other projects and stuff. But I’m under the J10 today fitting some exhaust for welding.

Driver side is straightforward mocked up/clamped header to muffler. Passenger was a bit more complicated... but I snaked off the header through the hole made up by tcase/frame/xmember/body pretty well.

Im building my first Custom exhaust and had to use 4 - 45 degree pieces to make two 4" offsets on the main runners. Unfortunately, the 4 sets of 180 degree bends wont be used. I ran 2.5" into a Single 3.5" FlowMaster. Mostly stock 360 motor in a Truck.

I thought about going to a single, but ended up with a cross over behind the tcase and duals behind the axle. What did you do about a tip, just run the pipe out the side?

Oh, yours is a better setup than mine. I wanted to save the additional $120 for the 2nd muffler. I also new that it wouldnt limit my motor's output
