If its a post you created, there should be a round, blue X in the upper right corner of your post next to the edit button.

Oh, only moderators have that one. However if you go to edit your post, right above where the title is a check box with "delete" next to it. That one should work for you.

To see if I can delete my own post as a normal user (Just switched that account back to be an admin though).

And both delete buttons are there, and I checked both color themes for the site. The Blue circle with the X is there when just looking at the post, and the check box is there when I go in to edit the post.

Oh, delete a thread. Ok, you are not allowed to once somebody has posted to it. If nobody has posted on it, then you can delete it. But once it has been posted on, you have to ask a moderator to remove it. And have a decent reason as to why. As typically I would prefer to simply lock it to prevent others from posting on it.

I want to delete a Thread due to duplication. But I do not see the;

1. The X in a Blue circle
2. The "Once deleted the post cannot be recovered" check box in the Edit Post function

:oops:

The issue may be due to being a "new" user. Until you have a certain number of post you are not a regular user, so a lot if thing are limited. I will check what that number is when I get a chance.

Ok, just spent a whole lot of time digging through all the permissions and such. The only reason I can think of as to why you guys do not normally see the delete option is by default there is a time limit. When you post a topic, you have 15 minutes to delete it. If it goes past 15 minutes, only a moderator can delete it. This is there so that people can't go back after the fact and delete post that contributed in some way to a thread. I doubt I will change this setting.

Also, even if its within the 15 minute window, if somebody else makes a post after yours, or in a thread, it cannot be deleted.

So basically, you can only delete it if it is a new post that is less than 15 minutes old, and has no post after it.

Make sense? :)
