Full Size Jeep Network

So I measured the pilot hole in the crank and got 1.06 and change, the outside diameter of the replacement bushing is 1.05 so that should work. The TSM says the inside diameter of the pilot bushing is .787 and the inside diameter of my replacement bushing is .750; a difference of .037. My question is, is this too much of a difference? I think the trans output is supposed to fit in relatively snug, but still able to turn freely. When I tried to slip the bushing over the output it slid over the tapered end, but not any further. Not easily anyway.

As I recall, there is more than one pilot bushing used depending on the year. As the T15/T18 used a different pilot bushing than a T176.

Jeep used a really oddball setup. The pilot bushing and throwout bearing are Jeep only parts. Check with BJ's or a good 4x4 shop.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'm still looking for a place locally that can find me a bushing and no luck yet. I may need to have one made to the correct specs, but not sure where to start with that. This dang bushing is the one thing keeping me from putting the trans/tcase back in...

Call up BJ's (www.bjsoffroad.com). Brent or Ryan should know the exact one you need.

I'll give that a shot, they've helped me out before. The "correct" bushing for a 327/T18 combo off the shelf seems unobtanium so far...
