Ed, do you have another source for the Evap updated unit and expansion valve setup for o-ring style fittings?

So I did work on getting the seats back into vehicle. I also installed the purple seat belts. The steering wheel is only for mock up. I have a chrome and black steering wheel for this rig. I also installed the intermediate and turned wheels lock to lock as a test. I did mess up and cannot for the life of me recall where I got the power steering pump and pulley? I so need to make a list of parts. Also after searching high and low for the bumpers I wanted. I always knew I wanted a set from a 1984-1987 Wagoneer. So suddenly last week a 1984 popped up locally. And the bumpers are perfect. I will do slight modifications and have the bumpers semi chrome powder coated. It is basically the under color of the Purple I have been doing everything.

So this is a group started by my friend Ali. I have supported him physically and a tad bit financially.

Here are the seat bases made by Corbeau.

And here we have the seats I previously test fitted and while back. And now they are bolted down. More and more and even more stainless steel hardware.

Purple is purple is purple. Seat belts installed.

I installed the custom made one off steering intermediate . It is fully collapsible and indexed. I also installed the steering wheel to test lock to lock steering test. Time to finish plumbing hydraulic lines.

So this is the cage for holding and transporting my Karnage Welder. Check them out on the internet. Good folks. Great product.

My steering hydro unit mount. This is made by 4X4Garage great double shear.

Another week down the way. Will have no time this weekend to work on anything. Going to rethink the wiring and fuel line setup. Also transmission cooler lines. I need to remove the plastic I wrapped frame in. I also want to get the exhaust finalized. Need to finish the ac install. Then move onto getting the electrical harness installed.

So much too do.

The list never ends. And the owner is never satisfied……lol

Working on getting the transmission cooler plumbed. This is a PTFE line kit to -6AN fitting. The lines are rated to 350 psi and 500 degrees. System will never see that.

Had to order a set of -6An double male adapters. Then will finish transmission line hook up. My intent is to attempt to most everything on this rig. Or make it blend in out of sight with gloss black powder coating.

I also am working on getting the hydro assist steering doped out. The hydro unit helps with steering oversize tires. It also pulls double duty as a steering stabilizer. And the fact I am running a PSC Big Bore box. I can turn wheels lock to lock on these with my pinky.

Will be wrapping up power steering, transmission and fuel lines next week. And filling fluids to basic levels. Then onto cooling system and such. Have not decided on degas bottle an window washer. I need normal area for LS air filter location. After that. It is time to start on electrical.

Hal, I could be wrong but the evap UAC offers is for a Cherokee late 80's to 1999,I see offers on Ebay for 86-91 o-ring type which should work in American Air units back to 1975
I have a original evap case at my shop I'll look at it Monday and make sure, flare fittings can made less leak prone by adding a beveled copper washer made for flares, far as expansion valve is concerned I would use a externally equalized " peanut valve"
(one tube) and cap off the schraeder port, and use a o-ring to flare adapter which allows you to attach a o-ring fitting from there out of the other end of valve, I've got most everything.
Concerning UAC give me a call I know them well and will see what's going on.

So small update. Relocated transmission cooler slightly. Flipped it over and raised it. The exhaust will be running through there. Granted exhaust will be built then fully heat covered. I also plumbed the cooler. I ran fuel line. And cleaned up and installed the 2 speed wiper motor. I also started working on closing up cooling system. Still waiting on power steering reservoir and lines to come in. I did get brake lines on from proportioning valve to distribution block. Tomorrow will work on getting defrost vents and hoses hooked up.

I know I know another download of annoying pictures. I am a retired Marine? Maybe I should draw them I. Crayon? Just kidding gives me something to do and annoys the crap out of my employees. The boss over in his bay working on his mid-life crisis. Hopefully it is mid-life.

So working on AC , blower vents. Swapping out screws to Stainless. Installed the custom radio. Also finally go around to adjusting glovebox door. I ran vacuum lines for heater controls. I also installed cab vents and new covers from those fine fine fine folks at BJSOFFROAD- shameless plug.

Will hopefully be hooking up ac machine tomorrow.

I should have asked ED a few questions. About expansion valves and swapping from R12 to R134.

The one machine I have. Which I have several. Will allow me to run vacuum, a leak test and a flush run test. I like the flush run as it completely fills system with about 5-7lbs of fluid for a real test. Already flushed each new component previously.

So the radio is from Retro Sound. I thought it was cool. It is made to slightly resemble old school radio with modern items. This model is Bluetooth and XM. It also used a hidden antanea. I will be able to take and make calls with it in the rig.

Well today was AC day. I wanted to try something and was initially disappointed. After searching and searching I finally found adapters. Even had one made by a supplier for the one #10 fitting. This being the one on the back of the evap core. I was able to hand make each line . I was using the EZ-Clip system from Eaton. These allow for clipping and un clipping locking rings and such on the hoses. I started today with a failure. I had a slight leak that was driving me insane. The high pressure line was leaking during vacuum at the expansion valve. I finally dialed it down to a failed adapter. The adapter from Flange #6 to O-ring #6 was bad. The ironies of ironies. I bought 4 of those adapters. And yet I somehow picked the one defective one. Always the way it is. You could be walking past 30 ropes and trip and get tied up. But if falling off a cliff with 30 ropes near you? You will miss each and every rope. Well I swapped out the adapter and bam system passed leak test first go. Tried it 3 more times. Still perfect. Filled system with 1.850 lbs of UV-R134. Waited 30 minutes. Recovered 1.845. Boom … system is ready. Then sucked down system under a 35 minute vacuum with leak test again. Passed. Will leave it under a vacuum until next time in shop. One hurdle down . Now onto the next one. Also working on getting the Power steering system wrapped up. My build your own AN style PTFE high pressure lines and fittings kit came in. Lot’s of honey does over the weekend. So will be hanging with the Sugar Mama. I suggest everyone getting a Sugar Mama or a Sugar Daddy. Or as in our case. I am her Sugar Daddy and she is my Sugar Mama. It works great for me and her.

Today was our shop Christmas party. I let the guys go home at 1300. And will see them next Tuesday. Also several are taking the last remaining time off of the 2 weeks per year of their respective vacation time. And this week wa minimal work with allowing everyone to clean their bays and organize their tools.

I LOVE IT WHEN AN IDEA COMES THROUGH AS I IMAGINED IT. AND ALSO GLEANING AND READING OTHER PEOPLES POSTS HAS HELPED.

So went to shop today. Verified that system held a vacuum. It did. So charged AC system with 1.350 lbs. will leave that til Tuesday and recheck recovery amount. Also do a UV DYE test.

In the meantime decided to make a quick mount and install steering reservoir. Good old blue loctite.

Question: on this entry scratch and or foot guard. Does none have a source on a new one? Or some place I can get something similar? I could make one out of the step anti skid tape. But would really like to find something like this?

Well confirmed everything on the AC. I recovered R-134 from the system. I had put in 1.345 lbs on Friday or Saturday. I recovered 1.330 this morning. I think I can classify that as a tight and closed system. So now it is time to move onto the wiring of the truck. I am mounting the FI-TECH system which will control the Engine and the transmission. I emailed Drew and followed his suggestions on mounting of the fuse panel. I also mounted the ECM as per instructions of the guys and gals at FI-TECH. It truly hurts and is stressful when I must drill into my powder coated rig. Also when I must drill into the Raptor Lining. But running down the long stretch here and all seem a fine.

So started with grabbing the Rebel Wire 9+3 wiring kit. I had also ordered dozens of feet of their wire covering. It is not the funky plastic, neither is it the cloth. It is an open design that closes around the wire. I will try to get some up close shot of it as I put it all together.

BJs off-road has an “outer scuff plate”. The material is a bit different than factory. I have not seen anything that matches the same stamped aluminum shape as factory though.

So started working on the wiring. I have both the basic wiring kit and the Fuel Injection system to wire up. I made a simple mount for the Fi-Tech fuses. I also installed the Rebel Wiring unit. Started laying it out. I have almost all the plugs connected. I need an extension for passenger side O2 sensor. I also need an extension for the front cam sensor, LS3 style. I will also need to swap out large alternator plug to smaller one. Need to get two coolant sensors into the block. One goes in front of drivers head, the other in the rear of passenger head. I also ran and hid the rear wiring for tail lights and fuel sending unit wiring. I am attempting to keep as much out of sight as possible. I even ran some wiring under the intake manifold. Will have to take a little hiatus from the Jeep . So much going on at the moment.

Well it does appear I am finished working on this for the year. I wrapped up my last available time Friday the 29th at 1930 hours. I shall resume next year. I shall spend this weekend with my Sugar Mama and her Mom Sugar Grammy. I also will have my youngest daughter aka Princess with me.

I did reach a large milestone. Other than Freon and oil in the AC system. I did button up the steering system and put in steering fluid. I will be using the Swepco 715 fluid. I built my own pressure and return lines.

I also started work on the FI-TECH fuel injection and transmission harness. I will be integrating the Rebel Wire setup, Dakota Digital and FI-TECH. I built my fuse panel mounting unit from a cheap unit from EBAY. I also ordered a few parts for the FI-TECH I either lost or forgot to order. And yes I know the throttle cable mount is upside down.

A huge shout out to FNJEEP for the throttle pedals.

This appears it is the last picture dump of 2023 for me.

1. Have the parking brake cables in. Transfer case and transmission drilled and put rough the center section. Now time to wrap up fluids and electrical.

Enjoy Hawaii!

Sorry if I missed it, who’s power steering reservoir did you use? That might solve an issue I’ve been avoiding on one of my trucks for the last 10 years lol.
