Please - where can I get a replacement rubber plug for a 1977 rear differential?
I can't find one anywhere.

I don't know that the plug can be bought by itself. You could try Randy's Ring and Pinion.

You can buy a replacement cover with an actual threaded plug. https://www.bjsoffroad.com/Dana-44-Diff ... _p_76.html This is what I put on the rear of my CJ-6, and then put the CJ-6 cover with a threaded plug on my J10. I have a left-over cover from my J10 with a rubber plug, but I expect it's no better than the one you have now.

Randy's probably has a stamped steel thin steel type with a threaded plug.

Those are too small, I already bought one of those. They fit the later model Wags. I got caught out in the middle of Oregon when it got bad, ended up wrapping the plug with electrical tape to make it bigger.
I checked the diff oil before I left on my trip to discover it was in bad shape. It hadn’t leaked a drop in 10 months previously. The plug hadn’t been off in so long it had glued itself the the cover.
