I’ve found 4.56’s with your engine/transmission combination to be perfect with 35’s so 4.10 with 33’s is close to the same. My J Truck has 4.10’s with a 6.0 and 4l80e and I couldn’t be happier. Your 4l60e has more over drive than the 4l80e so I wouldn’t even consider not doing 4.10’s.
The bus I ride is so short it is a yellow Smart Car full of squirrels, monkeys and clowns.

Floor Pans, bed and fender flares are typical rust spots. Looks great so far! Keep it up!

Last night, I went on Rustys Offroad website and ordered a set of RX-13 shocks. Great site. I would definitely recommend. Easy to use, and pretty inexpensive too! For a set of 4, with shipping, it was under $200! When you go on their site, when you go to suspension parts, you can select your vehicle and what size lift you have in it, so it makes it very easy to use for anyone.

Hey everybody it’s been a bit. I just got my truck back out so I can start working on it again. I started installing the shocks I got from rusty’s over the winter. I also sand blasted and painted the front shock brackets with chassis saver/POR15. I don’t have any pictures of them yet. Surprisingly, there wasn’t any issues with that. We did need to get new bolts for the lower shocks where it bolts on to the axles because we didn’t have any long enough. So off we go to menards. We also did some tinkering here and there shortening wires in the wiring harness so we didn’t have as much loose wires. I also got my title and license plates over the winter so I installed the rear one today (the front bumper is off). Then we made a list of everything we need to do to get it more road ready. That should be all to get caught up I think. There will be more frequent posts now that it is spring so I’ll have some time to work on it.

Another update today, got the shocks in the rest of the way. I also got a pair of mirrors. 20 bucks for the pair, brand new. Same size as the previous ones. They look pretty good. Image
My brother works at the local O’Reileys auto parts store so he gets the employee discount, and he saw these on the shelf and thought they would work so he picked em up.

I got some more things checked off the very very long to-do list today. So first we had a couple graduation parties for some family friends, and then when we got home we started working on my truck. I had my mom order rear leaf spring hangers for a ford ranger off of Amazon (because she has an amazon account and stuff) because they work to replace the j10 ones, and we also ordered a seat cover off of seat covers unlimited. Then me and my dad went out to the shop. We took out the transmission crossmember because we wanted to raise the transmission/t-case up and we needed to cut a notch in the crossmember for the front driveshaft. Long story short we cut out a little bit of the center top section and raised it up about 3/4 of an inch, welded that up, and then we took some circular tubing and cut it and then cut the crossmember to make a deeper slot for the driveshaft to go through. Image
This is the slot for the driveshaft. The welds aren’t perfect, but it was me doing the welding, and I’ve only had about 2 months of a welding class in my school.

And this us where we raised the transmission. This was also me doing the welding except in a couple spots.

This is my list of stuff to do before we get it on the road and stuff. Note, the part number at the bottom is for the leaf spring hangers that can be used as replacements for fsj’s for those interested.

I also am having it sent out to get exhaust a week from tomorrow that way it is legal because currently it only had the manifolds on it. It sounds cool but isn’t legal, which is the more important part (some would beg to differ I am sureImage)

Nice save on this one.

Getting it sent out for exhaust tomorrow. Taking it to a local exhaust shop that we have dealt with before. We are planning on doing duals with a turn down in front of the rear bumper kinda to the side. I also buttoned up some stuff, aired up tires, put in taillights, checked to see how many of my lights don’t work, make my high beam foot switch work, adjusted headlights, and some other small odds and ends. It’s getting closer to be road ready!Image

The truck is at the exhaust shop now. It should maybe be done by the end of this week, or it will be next week.

Nice progress :)

Looks like a different truck already, from when you started.

Got the truck back from exhaust today. Sounds good. Quiet until you get on it. The mufflers were pretty inexpensive since I’m on a budget but I still like the sound. It ran me $313. I was really happy about that. I don’t have a video of it running as I was too busy listening to it to record itImage I’ll see about getting a video of it running tomorrow or maybe sunday. Now we just have to get seat belts for it and figure out why it doesn’t want to shift out of first gear and then I’ll be ready to drive it!
