Once we got that rapped up we started pulling apart my other set of doors so they’re ready to be blasted.
There’s a little rust in the bottom corner of this door that we see that’ll have to be patched eventually. Those wing windows were an absolute PITA to get out. I also took my tailgate off and got that completely tore apart (in about 5-7 minutes). That and possibly the fenders are all gonna get sandblasted by a local sandblasting place.

Here is a link to my dropbox pictures that I’m using to post up pics in ifsja. This is an easy way to go back through and look at all of my pictures of my trucks (in order) without having to scroll through my entire build thread. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0ufv39b46cfh ... i8oja?dl=0
This link should work. You should just be able to click accept all cookies and then continue on browser (or website or whatever it says) and it should take you to my pictures. They are in order from oldest to newest so more recent activities will be at the bottom.
Got more work done today. Not a ton but a fair bit. Got the final bed section glued on and now it is curing.
I have a second hole drilled for the side marker because I drilled it in the wrong spot the first time. Measure once cut twice

Also started sound deadening the floor of the truck. My dad had a few mats of Eastwood XMat. It was enough to cover the floor in front of the seat which is all we really needed for now. We are gonna order another box for under the seat/back of the cab, etc.
We left a little section on the tranny tunnel uncovered because that is the general vicinity we will need to cut for the t-case shifter and this stuff sucks to cut through when it’s installed. It made it quite a bit quieter inside.

With great optimism comes great frustration from those who don't fabricate the bandwagon they jump on, as well as a responsibility to make sure the bandwagon is strong enough when others start jumping on it.
Well as an early birthday gift I had bought myself a razor grille and hood. $100 for them. The hood is dinged up, especially the front edge, but dents are easier to fix than rust on the flat part of the hood. My dad picked them up for me while he was on his work route a few days ago and today was the first day I got out to the shop to take a pic of them.

And as a late birthday present to myself, I bought myself a short bed! It’s from a dude California that was going to junk it. I had made a post on a website called jeeptruck.com and he called me up the other day saying he had one. So we talked a little bit, and I decided I would bite the bullet. He did all the research into shipping and found a company that would ship it to me for $310. He only wanted $75 for the bed which I thought was crazy. But he didn’t want to accept more, so I sent him $400. So it should get to my house on friday. He says it is completely rust free and already in primer. It is pretty much ready to be painted.
So today I spent my afternoon working on getting my bed ready to come off. Only 4 out of the original 8 bolts were holding it on so that was easy. Then we torched the bolts off my rollbar (since some idiot reinstalled the rollbar with torx bolts instead of carriage head bolts, which meant we didn’t have access to the ones in the corner of the rollbar).
It’s kinda weird seeing the truck without the rollbar in. Sometime this week we will get my rollbar dropped off to get it sand blasted and powdercoated.

Well the truck looks more weird now. We got the bed off this morning. Now we’re gonna sand and prime the old bed this afternoon so I can sell it. We’re gonna prime it so if the other bed is okay, then I can sell this one to recoup a little money.

Meh, just run some sheet metal between the frame rails, weld on some fenders (to keep your rear window intact), and throw some cheap lights in the bumper

Got the bed DA’d and ready for primer. Didn’t get to priming it (gotta go spend time with the girlfriend). We should be able to do that tomorrow morning and then start working on the shackles too.

Well I never recieved the j10 bed. We think I got scammed. So back to the previous plan: buy a stepside bed.
The bed is in great condition. There is a small chip in the bottom of one fender but that will be easy to fix. In this picture (we had just got it home and washed it and set it on there), you can clearly see it is not level. The front needs to go up about 1.5 inches. Then, we will cut the rear frame cross member

As you can see in this picture, the bed is sitting on that cross member. Since we are cutting out and repairing that section of frame anyways, we will move that cross member forward a little but so that the rear of the bed can just sit on the cross member. When we put on the new shackles, we will move them forward a little bit to get the wheel centered in the wheel opening. Somehow, we will also put on the jeep flares so that the wheel openings match. The wheel opening of the ford fender is pretty long so we will have to stretch whatever flare we use. We may buy fiberglass flares because they would be easy to mold to the fiberglass stepside fenders. But the problem is the price. Or we will cut the flares off of my orange truck since the bed is rusty.

For the fun of it I went back out to the shop after supper to do a little bit of tinkering while my parents went out to see a band.
I made a cardboard template of a j10 rear flare and this is how it turned out. Surprisingly, it appears the j10 flare won’t need to be lengthened much. Probably about 1”, 2” at most. This is the approximate location I plan to have the flare. We will see where exactly I put it when it comes time but I think it will be close to this.

Well we got the rear cross member cut off the truck along with about 5” of frame. We set the bed on and it got it better. It was about 3” too high in the back from where we wanted it. We took out one of the middle floor braces and that got it close to 2” above where we wanted it. Next we plan to trim a little bit off of the front of the rear cross member of the bed. Once we do this it should get it pretty close to where we want it. Sadly I forgot to take pictures of it with the bed on it.

Our goal is to make the bodylines that I highlighted in green line up. As you can see the front is a little high on the bed and the back is way too high. Note:this is before the removal of the rear cross member. We are thinking about getting like a 1” body lift for the cab or just getting new body mounts to get the cab bodyline match the front of the bed.
