This is the receiver. The bumper fits well with it, the receiver part is lined up nearly perfectly with the bottom bar of the bumper.

Great thread! I have an 84 Laredo that I’m in the process of stripping down for a frame swap, paint, 5.3 swap and 241c transfer case.
I have a couple of questions, when you used the 241 case did you have to add another shifter or use the selector from the 229 case? The other question is what front drive shaft did you use, the one from the 4L60e?

Thanks! Can’t wait to follow your Laredo thread!
For my t case shifter I used a factory 2000 ish gm truck floor shifter (I didn’t keep the old one so I had my cousin who works at a metal recycling place pick one up for me), and cut a hole in the floor to make it work. For the old hi lo shifter I just made a temporary (maybe) patch to put over the whole that was about the same shape as the piece that held the shifter in so I could use the shifter gasket since mine was in good shape. I actually don’t have a front driveshaft yet, my dad knows a guy that makes them so we ordered one from him. I don’t remember the length off of the top of my head.

I’m using a gas tank out of a 99 Suburban, it’s a 40 gallon tank that you would need to rob a bank to fill. I’m really enjoying your build. I have a buddy that did a 5.3 build and I’m picking his brain also. If I learn anything good I will pass it on to you.

That is a big tank! Out of curiosity, does if hang pretty far down or did it fit pretty well in the back?

It fits between the rear axles, since it’s wide and long it doesn’t hang low
