Any chance of switching to vbulletin on here?

Post by AwesomeJ10 »

I simply don't like this PHP BB. It doesn't seem to have the functionality of vbulletin. I really like the 'new posts' button that vbulletin offers, along with other features. The 'new posts' button on here doesn't work as well.

Any chance we can get vbulletin on here? I'd send ya paypal to pay for the license. I think it's around $70 bucks, but that was a few years ago when I last bought it.

I am not against the idea. It is $200 for the basic license, no mobile, etc. Which isn't a big deal. And if I did go that route, I would just up and move the whole site to another provider (Not happy at all with the current one, to say the least).

And as I recall, this database can be imported into VBulletin. There is no way I am going to ask people to start over again, again.

But VBulletin does have some nice features. The downside is there is not nearly as many free add-ons from what I have seen. Where as with PHPBB everything is free.

I think the change over would ultimately be determined by the success of this site. Obviously right now it is quite busy. But that may change in the next day or so as IFSJA comes back online for more people. The ultimately question there I suppose is.. how long will it stay up for...

<my$02> I have no vested interest in fsjnetwork.com and I am just a forum user here but I am for waiting a while for this kind of change. When IFSJA is back will we still have lots of people surfing this forum? Hard to say. I bet the traffic falls off again just like every oher time IFSJA takes a nap and wakes up again. I think that those of us who have been here a while have not had issues using the site the way it is. </my$02>

New Posts is on the top right next to your logout button (the arrow down) Just open it, open each page with new posts and go down the list.

Wow..like I said before...well stated.

I like this forum software the way it is now....very much.
Currently, I am learning and exploring all the new features we have now, compared to 'Mothership'.
Right now, I very much like what I see and am enjoying my experience.

What features does VBulletin offer that are nicer than phpbb?
How would VBulletin be an improvement.

If I, as Joe Public user, was convinced that VBulletin is the way to go, count me in.
But as now, that is gonna be a hard sell.

There, I've added another $.02 for now a grand total of $.04

You're changing "chero" to "chero"? :P

Why not just refer to them all as "the browless stepchildren"? Image

Couldt we just say "Chero" instead of the filter making it say "Chero" :p
