Window stops

Post by Tessier »

The driver door window is stuck in the closed position. I see the lights dim when I press the window down switch. This has happened before - I fixed it 2 weeks ago by removing the window motor assembly and cleaning the J track. Nothing was broken. When I put it back together it worked like new.

It worked this morning. When I tried to lower it this afternoon, stuck again.

The plastic j track looks great. I’m guessing it is binding or does not have enough starting torque. When it worked it was smooth and rolled up and down quickly.

Would a relay fix this problem or is there something else I should be looking for alignment-wise (like maybe it is binding?)

I don't see a relay being the way to fix this. You need to find what's hanging it up.

Maybe delete the duplicate posts?

Sorry about the duplicate. Was posting using the phone and the site kept erroring out. I didn't realize the first had gone through.

Clean all electrical connections and grounds. Also look into disassembling the window switches and cleaning the corrosion out of them. There used to be a tech article on this procedure on the old forum.

This morning it started working again. When it works, it works like it is new.

That would seem to be an electrical problem, rather than mechanical.
